Panthalassic Light Show
As the seawater of the Panthalassan Ocean darken, transparent animals like this ancient comb jelly (Ctenorhabdotus capulus) and these “Nuu-ci fish” (Nuucichthys rhynchocephalus) begin to glow in the dark thanks to their bioluminescence. Small arthropods like these Branchiocaris pretiosa in the distance don’t have such abilities.
